mono::poly

Thomas Dimuzio’s Mono::Poly is the first joint production between Asphodel and Dimuzio’s own Gench Recordings label. A double CD set, Mono::Poly anthologizes the best of Dimuzio’s live solo performances and collaborations with fellow experimental musicians, moving across multiple genre and cultural boundaries. Spanning the years 1997-2002, each track on this anthology displays Dimuzio pushing the envelope of contemporary processing technology to truly epic, post-rock proportions. Featuring the talents of collaborators and friends such as Invisbl Skratch Pikl Q-Bert, Tigerbeat6 hip-hop deconstructionist Wobbly, Henry Cow alumni and noted soloists Chris Cutler and Fred Frith, Scott Jenerik, Atau Tanaka and more, Mono::Poly is a terrific introduction to a brilliant artist working at the top of his form.

Additionally, each month sees the release of bonus MP3 excerpts not found on the Mono::Poly double CD set. All MP3 tracks are FREE and available exclusively through Gench.com.

Mono::Poly is available now and in record stores near you.

slew

Thomas Dimuzio has produced an impressive body of solo and collaborative work over the course of his 15-year career. From his renowned recordings for RRRecords, such as Sonicism and Markoff Process, to the classic Headlock (RéR) and his recent Mono::Poly (Asphodel/Gench), Dimuzio is a true sonic alchemist who can seemingly create musical events out of almost anything. Those paying close attention to this innovative sound artist's recorded activities are also familiar with the large and compelling body of work Dimuzio has produced for compilation projects. This material has finally been united by RéR Megacorp and Gench into a single release, the aptly named Slew.

Slew pools more than a decade of studio works spanning compilations issued by RRRecords, Tzadik, Alku, Realization, Digital Narcis, Self Abuse, Cuneiform and other groundbreaking labels. More than a compilation of compilation tracks, Slew documents the evolution of an artist dedicated to an immersive world of sound and aural vision. Bringing together many out of print and hard to find gems, Slew blurs the bounds of electro-acoustic, digital musique concrete, drone, noise, dark ambient and industrial. Dimuzio’s sonic reworkings range from an Elvis impersonator (on parade), junkyard ambiance, electric guitar, piano, voice, clarinet, feedback and shortwave sounds to cellist Tom Cora and the music of Dr. Nerve. Also featured is a new bonus track constructed from Dimuzio’s locked-groove submissions for the releases RRR-500 (RRRecords) and LockERS (E.R.S.). Slew charts the path of a prolific sound artist and composer and is an essential addition to any collection.
